On March 7th, PV Pulse conducted its first expedition – a trip to Alta Vista in Riviera Nayarit. A total of 17 of us headed north in five vehicles at 9:00 A.M. on an adventure to the spiritual archaeological site of Alta Vista, Nayarit. At around 10:30, we ventured on dirt roads deep into the lush jungles of the Sierra Madre. When the road became too rugged to negotiate, we parked our vehicles and went the rest of the way on foot. As we walked into Alta Vista, the beautiful surroundings revealed why this place was chosen by the different cultures that have lived and paid tribute here.
With great company, the 40-minute hike was a breeze. Together we discovered the different petroglyphs along the trail. Once we arrived at the Kings Pool, we relaxed and enjoyed a picnic by the creek, admiring the elaborate designs on the rocks as well as the natural beauty of the place. Some of the more adventurous ventured above the site, where more glyphs are located. Others took photos and chatted by the pool while the kids splashed in the cool water.
Probably the most rewarding part of the trip was meeting new friends. Enjoy the images and stayed tuned for PV Pulse’s next event – it will surely be a blast as well.
