EVENTS on the Pulse - July 27, 2010
Lorpheus Classical Duo
On August 7th at 7:00 P.M., Hacienda San Angel (Miramar 336) will be hosting a special private concert featuring Lorpheus, a classical duo from Guadalajara. Lorpheus consists of Gerardo Ponce, violinist, and Jorge Jiménez, a tenor singer. The pair will be performing pieces from Aida and Carmen, as well as other famous works. The concert is a throwback to the salons of 19th century Paris, in which small groups gathered in people's homes to hear music. Lorpheus will be performing in Hacienda San Angel's chapel, which means seating is very limited.
Reserve your spot by calling one of the following numbers:
• Paco Ojeda & Juan Pablo Hernández at 221-0106
• Felix Bañuelos at 044-322-128-1980
• Laura Cardenas at 223-0008
• Patrick Harrison at 223-1374
Tickets are $250 pesos per person, and include a wine reception after the concert.
Session 0.1 Festival
On July 31st starting at 9:00 A.M. and lasting all day, the town El Tuito is hosting a music festival called Session 0.1. The day's schedule includes three live acts (KillerHertz, 2PLAYERS, and Audiophile) as well as over a dozen DJs from the genres of ambient, minimal, and psy-trance. Admission is $80 pesos, which will go toward garbage pickup afterwards. From the event's website:
“We're trying to make an event completely independent from monetary purposes, trying to propose a new and renewed version of what has become rave parties, with the sole purpose of giving you tools to expand your consciousness: a bit of art, nature, and love.
“We believe it is necessary to take drastic measures in the current situation. Our Mother Earth is deteriorating; we need to wake up and see clearly to be able to act in the most appropriate way here and now. We believe that entertainment should offer solutions, and should be an area free of corporate messages. Is this an indispensable condition for the creation of an independent culture?”
