Here at PV Pulse, one of the most common questions we get is, "How safe is Mexico, really?"

We strive to provide the most balanced and accurate information out there, but sometimes the best way to learn about a place is to hear directly from the people who live and vacation here.

This page is your space to leave your impressions and advice about Puerto Vallarta.

Been living in Vallarta for more than 3 years now, and the only think I can say about "violence" or insecurity is that every time I go to the US or Europe, I usually feel much less safe than in Vallarta... I believe crime levels here are the same or better than teh average in the US! http://www.chemotherapyfacts.com

After spending my first 35-odd years in the States, I began coming down to Puerto Vallarta (and especially Yelapa) and for the first time I really felt both free and in good company, everywhere I went. I never am afraid here. I go anywhere I want at any time, and have slowly grown to feel that I belong to these hills and streets, that I'm not just a guest but a welcomed part of a remarkably open-spirited scene (in a region where many Mexicans are from other parts of Mexico too). Danger and isolation are what I feel back in California. Violence, when it occurs on either side of the border, is almost always a very local thing -- and this locality has none to speak of. What it does have is an amazingly healthy state of mind and heart.

We have been to Puerto Vallarta 4 times since last January and just recently came back. We would not even think of going anywhere else. The wonderful Mexican smiles are to be admired. The restaurants are yummylicious!!! My husband even had $4000 of dental work done Jan. 29/11!!!! He now has a beautiful Mexican smile!!! We will be back in May! We always stay at Dreams PV and have made some wonderful friends. Puerto Vallarta we LOVE you!!

    We love P.V.
This year we will return for our third consecutive trip; and it's gonna be a long one.
We prefer staying downtown, in apartments; though there's nothing wrong with new visitors choosing one of the various all-inclusive hotels along the beach.
Staying near Basillo Badillo definitely has it's benefits.
We'll be returning in less than three weeks, for a five week stay. We especially like staying in an area long enough to see the 'behind-the-scenes' activity, too.
Puerto Vallarta is an amazing place to meet and make new friends.
Counting the hours until our return!

We came here on vacation for many years and when it was finally time to retire, PV was our first choice. We've been living here for three years now and can't imagine a better place.

I've vacationed in PV for many years and have always found it to be extremely safe and friendly. It's a number one destination for many of my friends too, and I have never heard of anyone having any issues whatsoever.
