PV Pulse's Taco Tour

RECAP:
The first Taco Tour was a great success!  Thirteen of us met at the Farmacia Guadalajara parking lot in Old Town.  Since it was only 7:00 P.M., a lot of local taco stands were just getting ready for the night, but luckily the delicious Taquería La Hormiga (located on the same corner) was open and ready for business.  Everyone tried to order conservatively since there were three more stops, but the smell of frying carne asada, chorizo, and onions made it difficult!

Our next scheduled stop was at Tacos Chuy, but there was a change of plans when we found out that it was closed for the day.  David, one of our guests, suggested another of his favorite taco stands nearby, and it didn't disappoint.

Finally, we all hopped on a bus and crossed the river to the other side of downtown, where we finished up the night at two of Vallarta's best places for tacos al pastor, conveniently located only a block apart from each other on Calle Honduras: El Carboncito and Pepe's Tacos.

Thank you to everyone who came, and if you missed it this time, don't worry - PV Pulse is planning another taco tour in a different part of town in the future.  Buen provecho!

PV Pulse's Taco Tour Flier

ORIGINAL POST:
Join us for our third community event, PV Pulse's Taco Tour! We'll be going from Old Town across the river to downtown, stopping at four of our favorite taco spots along the way: the Farmacia Guadalajara taco stands, Tacos Chuy, El Carboncito, and finally, Pepe's Tacos. If you've been to any of these places before, you know how good they are, and if not, this is a great chance to broaden your taco horizons. Everyone is welcome, and all you need is money for the food and comfortable shoes. We hope to see you there!

PV Pulse's Spring Soiree

RECAP:
On March 19, PV Pulse and our guests met for an enjoyable evening at de Santos. The Spring Soiree was an opportunity to meet some of our Facebook fans, listen to great music, share a PV Pulse slideshow, and record some video shout-outs. All of those present made it a bustling, energetic, fun, and memorable evening. Thank you to our fans and to the staff at de Santos.  Please see below for photos of the event, as well as a video clip of some shout-outs from our fans.  We’ll see you at our next event, the Taco Tour. More details to come.

ORIGINAL POST:

Come celebrate Vallarta and the arrival of spring at PV Pulse’s Spring Soiree! This event will be held at one of PV’s most famous venues, de Santos, from 10:00 P.M. until 3:00 A.M. on Friday, March 19. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. As a token of appreciation, de Santos is offering all PV Pulse fans a free welcome drink, such as a Paloma, Margarita, Tamarind Martini, or Viva Mexico.

Since its opening, de Santos has consistently been one of the top hotspots in Vallarta. The venue includes a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, a bar with one of the best wine lists in town, and a relaxing rooftop lounge. The slogan here is “Because food tastes better with music,” and de Santos features a cast of world-class DJs, jazz on the roof, and a cutting-edge sound system. All of this is no surprise considering one of the owners is Alex González, the drummer of Maná, which is one of the most famous Mexican rock bands.

The Spring Soiree is coinciding with several other events at de Santos, which you’ll be able to enjoy. There will be a talented live Cuban trio named “Sabor a CUBA” on hand. Also, as part of de Santos’ ongoing monthly Art Expos, Paco (Frank Rudin), a popular local abstract painter, will be exhibiting some of his works in the restaurant.  And after midnight, musician Ricardo Sanchez will be playing his unique mix of jembe over house and Latin house music.

We’re looking forward to meeting all of you – come and enjoy a night of food, drinks, music, and art with PV Pulse!

Alta Vista Trip

On March 7th, PV Pulse conducted its first expedition – a trip to Alta Vista in Riviera Nayarit. A total of 17 of us headed north in five vehicles at 9:00 A.M. on an adventure to the spiritual archaeological site of Alta Vista, Nayarit. At around 10:30, we ventured on dirt roads deep into the lush jungles of the Sierra Madre. When the road became too rugged to negotiate, we parked our vehicles and went the rest of the way on foot. As we walked into Alta Vista, the beautiful surroundings revealed why this place was chosen by the different cultures that have lived and paid tribute here.

With great company, the 40-minute hike was a breeze. Together we discovered the different petroglyphs along the trail. Once we arrived at the Kings Pool, we relaxed and enjoyed a picnic by the creek, admiring the elaborate designs on the rocks as well as the natural beauty of the place. Some of the more adventurous ventured above the site, where more glyphs are located. Others took photos and chatted by the pool while the kids splashed in the cool water.

Probably the most rewarding part of the trip was meeting new friends. Enjoy the images and stayed tuned for PV Pulse’s next event – it will surely be a blast as well.

Please see below for a collection of photos taken by various people on the trip.  For more information on Alta Vista, please read our article.
