Mexico Limpio & Querido Meeting
There will be a meeting for the new organization Mexico Limpio & Querido (Clean & Beloved Mexico) on September 2nd at 11:00 A.M. at A Page in the Sun Coffee Shop on Olas Altas Street. The organization is in its beginning stages, and is being organized by Robert Price, the Director of the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. The meeting is open to the public. Mexico Limpio & Querido is a grassroots movement with the goal of raising awareness and taking action to clean Mexico's environment with the help of schools, the government, and the private sector. Free Demonstrations at Miralo
Miralo has a new location and a free workshop the last Saturday of every month, starting this Saturday the 28th. Local artist Rodolfo Rosas Hernandez will be giving a free informational demonstration on the art of mosaic tiling at the new location of Miralo. The expanded store and studio space, located at Iturbide 236-A in El Centro, will hold the demonstrations the last Saturday of each month from 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. Miralo sells a variety of beautiful mosaic artworks, fused glass art, and other Mexican-inspired treasures. During the demonstration, Rodolfo will walk you through each step in the process, from creating a design to perfecting a finished piece. In the future months there will be other advanced mosaic workshops and other classes. Space is limited, so if you would like to attend please register by emailing miralopv@yahoo.com. Fundraising Casino Night
On August 28th at 9:00 P.M., Emotion Casino in Galerias Vallarta is holding a Fundraising Casino Night. Tickets are $300 pesos and include a welcome cocktail, $100 pesos credit at the casino, and four bingo boards. Proceeds benefit the Maximo Cornejo Quiroz Orphanage, a local non-profit that supports fifty-three children. For more information, call 322-221-1908 or 322-141-6974.
Outback Steakhouse Fundraiser for Becas
On September 2nd at 8:00 P.M., Outback Steakhouse is celebrating its tenth anniversary in Vallarta by holding its third of three fundraising dinners this summer. The first two dinners were in support of Pasitos de Luz and the Maximo Cornejo Quiroz Orphanage, two local non-profits, and all proceeds from the third dinner will be going to Becas Vallarta. Becas uses donations such as this to provide students in need with scholarships and school supplies. Tickets to the dinner are $250 pesos per person, and include your meal, a raffle, and a silent auction. To reserve a spot (space is limited), contact Polly G. Charro Day
Get your cowboy hat and boots ready. Charro Day takes place on September 14th with an array of activities. In the morning a parade runs right along the Malecon with riders wearing elaborate costumes. Later in the day and into the evening, festivities continue at various local charro rings featuring cowboy-style events, food, and dancing - a great way to experience a little Mexican cowboy culture.
