It’s fortunate that Puerto Vallarta is a good town for walking, because it’s also a notoriously difficult place to find parking. “No estacionarse” (“No parking”) signs dot almost every block. Some are painstakingly hand-painted in the tradition of rótulos (artistic signs advertising businesses or restaurants), and others are pre-made metal signs. Some are stenciled, and others are hastily spraypainted. Some are stickers, and others are even made of masking tape. My hope is that taken as a whole, this series will start to reveal patterns in the look and feel of PV – the cobblestones, wrought iron, whitewashed walls, and orange clay-tiled roofs.
