The Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Salvador González Reséndiz, and the tourism secretary of Nayarit, Raúl Rodrigo Pérez, received the awards from the president of Grupo Excelencias, José Carlos de Santiago. The Excellence Awards were created in 2005 with the objective of promoting excellence in tourism, culture and the gourmet world. At the ceremony were also awarded Mexico City, Uruguay, Panama and the Riu Hotels, among others.
What’s interesting here is that the award was for both destinations, but for working as a single one. According to Vallarta Opina, Mr. González Reséndiz said that “the efforts to work together with Riviera Nayarit have allowed us to offer a great mix of products and services from a region that is part of the same metropolitan area, which is perceived by tourists as a single destination, ignoring geographical or political divisions.”
This is the second time in the last few months that the region is recognized for working together, being the first one when the federal government awarded Puerto Vallarta & Riviera Nayarit with the Tianguis Turístico 2012. It seems that’s the future for PVR; in such a competitive world and so many offers for tourists around the world, working in collaboration is the best way to promote the many attractions of our destination.
