As if the amazing beaches, the wonderful weather and the revamped Malecon, weren’t enough to get over that winter nostalgia of some, now Puerto Vallarta has an ice rink too.

Yesterday, Salvador González, Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, inaugurated the free Pitillal synthetic ice rink, that will open every day from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, until January 15th 2012.

The ice ring is part of the program “Vallarta Activo” (Active Vallarta), which main objective is to physically re-activate the people of Vallarta.

The rink is located in the main square of the Pitillal neighborhood, but after January 15th it will start a four-month tour around different neighborhoods of Puerto Vallarta (as Ixtapa, Las Palmas, Las Juntas, Macroplaza, and more).

Puerto Vallarta’s ice rink comes after the municipality of Bahia de Banderas installed its own ice rink a few weeks ago, announcing it as the first ice rink in the region ever.

The entrance is free of charge and the only requirement is to bring socks for hygiene and pants to prevent any damage to the knees in case of falling.
