El Arrayán (344 Allende) is known for quality Mexican foods from different regions of the country. Now, with the help of chef Mariano Valdes, owner Carmen Porras is offering a limited number of participants a full day of instruction on how to select, purchase and cook Mexican foods.

The cooking series begins this month and will continue monthly, and is a don't-miss event for anyone who loves to cook or eat the fantastic foods of the region.

The January class will take place on the 24th, and will run from 9:30am to 3pm. Participants will join the team for a traditional Mexican breakfast, after which the group will visit local purveyors, then get hands-on cooking instruction, and conclude the day by eating their creations. The menu for this session is shrimp ceviche, Cochinita Pibil slow cooked pork, and Cajeta flan.

The cost is $85 USD per person, cash only. The fee includes breakfast, transportation, instruction, recipes, an embroidered apron, and lunch which includes one cocktail or glass of wine.

Carmen is taking reservations for the January and February sessions (January 24 and February 28) now. Call her at 222-7195 or email info@elarrayan.com.mx to reserve your spot.
