The event featured the 24 best Charro Associations in the country, with Tres Potrillos winning the 1st Final, and Tequila Don Roberto crowned as the champion after taking the 2nd Final with a score of 409 points.
Mexico’s national sport is the Charrería, a competitive event that embodies the spirit of an era, when horses were a central element of life; the origins of Charrería can be traced back all the way to the 16th century Spain.
According to Wikipedia, Charrería “is a competitive event similar to rodeo” but with a Mexican touch. Even when is been named Mexico’s national sports, many people refer to it as an art.
The charreada is an amateur event, were competitors are judged by style and execution. It consists of nine scoring events for men and one for women.

The 1st National Charro Championship was the perfect event to inaugurate the Arena Vallarta, a state-of-the-art facility of more than 10 acres, with capacity for over 5,000 spectators and 600 cars. With great infrastructure like this one, Puerto Vallarta will keep getting great events.
Final Standings:
1st Place: Tequila Don Roberto - 409 points.
2nd Place: Tres Potrillos – 380 points.
3rd Place: Hacienda Tamariz CYM – 358 points.
