The visit of His Holiness the XIV Dalia Lama, is organized by Casa Tibet Mexico, the first cultural representation of the Tibetan people in Latin America.
According to the schedule announced by Casa Tibet Mexico, on Friday His Holiness will be taking part in the Third World Forum for Values and a Legal Culture in Monterrey; then on Saturday, He will be giving a lecture and visiting an exhibition of Tibetan art in Mexico City.
Finally, on Sunday more than 30,000 people will listen to his message in a public talk in the Blue stadium, and before leaving Mexico His Holiness will give an academic lecture to the Mexican Union of Teachers.
China’s economic and political pressure on governments around the world, has resulted in an isolation of the Dalai Lama and His efforts to regain independence for Tibet. As a consequence, no Mexican authorities will meet with His Holiness during this visit. An audience with President Felipe Calderon was asked, but there was no response.
Nevertheless, the visit of the Dalai Lama couldn’t have a better timing, His message of peace will resonate in a city still perturbed by the excessive violence that has shaken Monterrey in the last few months.
