The show will be aired on public television stations in the United States, starting on September 23th. The Royal Tour is produced by the channel VME property of the CBS network.
Mr. Calderon travels throughout Mexico accompanied by Peter Greenberg host of the show, according to The New York Times. Together, they paddle a boat down a river in the Lacandonian jungle in Chiapas, scuba dive in a cenote (sinkhole lake) in Yucatan, and soar through the rainforest of Jalisco on a thrilling zip-line adventure just minutes away from Puerto Vallarta (see video below).
The president also flies on the presidential airplane of the Mexican Air Force to places like Chichen Itza, Teotihuacan, Chihuahua, Hidalgo, Michoacan and San Luis Potosi to portray their beauty in the documental series.
The idea behind this project is to boost the tourism industry showing to the world that Mexico is a safe but exciting place to visit. Some might say that it is not the best strategy, but at least it is something different and worth trying.
