You know it's springtime in Puerto Vallarta when the yellow primavera tree blooms. Indeed, the word primavera means "springtime".
Primavera - also known as trumpet tree, Ipê, gold tree or, botanically-speaking, the Tabebuia of the family Bignoniaceae - is native to northern Mexico and southern Florida, and ranges south to Argentina, showing up in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba.
At this time of year, the primavera flowers blossom, creating plush bursts of yellow all over the city. A related tree, the amapas, also goes into bloom throughout the area providing splashes of pink.
Here at pv pulse we'd like to ask you to join us in welcoming springtime by sending in your best photos of local primavera and amapas trees. We'll collect your images into a gallery celebrating the season.
Please send your submissions - no more than 1 megabyte files - to info@pvpulse.com with the subject line: "Springtime in PV".
