At 20°N, Puerto Vallarta shares the same latitude as Hawaii, and just like in Hawaii, the weather is a major draw here – PV has well over 300 days of sunshine per year.  As is typical in tropical climates, there is a dry season and a rainy season.

The dry season, which coincides with the high season for tourism, lasts from November until May.  The weather during this time is about as close to perfect as you can get; clear blue skies, warm days, cool breezy nights, and little to no rainfall are the norms.

However, this isn’t to say that the rainy season (June through October) is a bad time to visit.  Conditions are a bit hotter and more humid, and rain is plentiful and often heavy, but the rain almost always falls for only a few hours in the late afternoon or evening.  This precipitation washes away the day’s dust and turns the jungle-covered mountains surrounding the town a vibrant green.

Since Puerto Vallarta is sheltered by Banderas Bay (the largest bay in Mexico), hurricanes are rare.
