Today, it’s no secret that Puerto Vallarta has more than its fair share of excellent restaurants and talented chefs. Vallarta’s reputation as a gastronomic hotspot owes thanks to the Festival Gourmet International, an annual food festival in November celebrating fifteen years in PV.
The idea for the Festival Gourmet International was first conceived back in 1995 by three of Vallarta’s top chefs: Thierry Blouet of Café des Artistes, Heinz Reize of Hotel Krystal, and Silvan Müller of Nestlé. The concept then, as it is now, was simple but powerful: to invite accomplished chefs from around the world to PV to collaborate with local chefs to produce special dishes and menus.
In addition to the nightly “Gourmet a la Carte” in which diners can try the chefs’ new creations, there are also special programs held such as chocolate, wine, and cheese tastings and cooking demonstrations.
