As part of their 50th Anniversary celebration, La Palapa hosted a Pre-Hispanic Night on March 31, 2010. The delightful show and four-course meal was attended by many long-time customers of the restaurant, as well as well-known PV personalities, members of the community, and the press.
The Pre-Hispanic show on the beach consisted of dances, rituals, and poetry from Netzahualcoyotl. Following the show, a delicious meal inspired by Pre-Hispanic ingredients was served. Among the culinary delights were a berro (watercress) salad with flor de calabaza (pumpkin flowers), boar soup, and a main course of red snapper with pipian sauce. For dessert, we had mitote de calabaza (“Pumpkin Gossip”).
After the meal, we enjoyed a presentation of the opening of Fandango, the current show at Teatro Vallarta. All in all, it was a very enjoyable evening celebrating fifty years of the important gastronomic institution of La Palapa.
