Opened in 1996, the Los Mangos Library is open to the public, and has books in both English and Spanish. In addition to books, Los Mangos offers a seemingly endless amount of extras that transcend it from being a mere library to a valuable cultural institution in Vallarta.
Take, for example, the classes. If you’ve been thinking about trying something creative, Los Mangos offers classes in art (painting, drawing, caricature, and comics), dance (folkloric, jazz, ballet, flamenco, and contemporary), music (guitar and piano), and theater. Also available are classes in pilates, yoga, and aikido, a martial art.
Looking for a pet? Every Saturday from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M., the Protective and Compassionate Society for the Animals (SPCA) brings the dogs and cats they are fostering to the library. This is one of the best and easiest ways in Vallarta to adopt an animal that’s looking for a good home.
Los Mangos also hosts regular book clubs for children and adults, workshops, lectures, concerts, and a Cinema Club that shows both artistic films and mainstream movies from the past and present.
So, as you can imagine, there’s always something going on at the library. It would be impossible to list a full schedule here, so if you’re interested check out the Los Mangos blog at http://biblioteca-los-mangos.blogspot.com/ - it’s regularly updated with upcoming activities and events.
