When you think of financial services firms, you probably think of planning, management and investments. Mexican company VC Integral (Visión Corporativa Integral) does all that – but you might be surprised to learn about some of their other services.
PV Pulse sat down for a Q&A with VCI partner Javier Gonzalez to discuss the company’s services directed at foreigners.
PV Pulse: It’s clear from your web site that VCI is capable of providing all the standard investment services, but there also appears to be a many of exclusive programs for foreigners. In brief, what can you do for a foreign client?
JG: We have an exciting new suite of programs for helping foreigners with managing their finances, Mexican properties, and employee services. Take for example the fideicomisos de retiro (retirement escrow accounts). Investors can diversify their portfolio internationally without tax consequences.
PV Pulse: Do you mean that they won’t have to pay taxes on their capital gains?
JG: Exactly. You can move your money from the US or elsewhere into fideicomisos and we can structure that account to pay you in dividends off it, or if you’d like to invest, we can. It can also be structured as a will to give you and your family the peace of mind that when there’s need for the money it will go to the family without going through your country’s tax system. It’s all based on Mexican law, and is completely legal. The thing is many people don’t know the system, and that’s where we come in.
PV Pulse: And what about people who own properties in Mexico? What can VCI do for them?
JG: We can pay your Mexican bills that you aren’t able to pay online or because you’re not in the country. Property taxes, for example, or home services, gardener services, and transportation services. Also, very importantly, we provide an invoice for services rendered in Mexico that you can write off in your country.
PV Pulse: You also mentioned that VCI can assist with ‘employee services’. What does this mean?
JG: If you have employees for your property or company, we’ll manage your payroll. In addition, we handle social security and pension funds. This takes a major burden off you when you’re out of the country. Also, we can completely outsource your employees through us, which eliminates any liability for you.
PV Pulse: It says here that you have special services for business owners and real estate agents. Can you briefly describe these?
JG: For business owners, similar to property owners, we can handle payroll services etc, but we can also assist with minimizing the tax impact on their capital gains, reduce company taxes, and help with their business plans.
Real estate agents are a special case because they often deal with commission payments. Typically, these payments are taxed, but we are able to issue commission payments directly and with tax-exempt status.
PV Pulse: Can you tell me a bit about VCI?
JG: Sure. We’ve been around for 20 years, and the company is based out of Mexico City and Leon. There are about 1,000 employees throughout the country, with 12 offices, and we move money in any currency.
PV Pulse: And please tell us a little about your background, training and expertise.
JG: I was born and raised in Puerto Vallarta. I graduated from the University of San Diego in 2005 in Business Finance. I’ve been working in the business administration/financial services sector in the States for 6 years, and now I’m transferring it to Mexico. I wanted to return to Mexico to be with my family, and to bring the skills and knowledge I’ve learned home.
