Mexico Loses One of Its Sharpest Minds

Acclaimed Mexican novelist, essayist and playwriter, Carlos Fuentes, died yesterday in Mexico City aged 83. The Old Gringo author and perennial Nobel Prize candidate, is a huge loss for Mexico’s intellectual life.

Debating the Mexican Political Debate

As you may’ve heard, last Sunday the first of two debates between the four candidates to the presidency of Mexico took place. While it is a triumph in itself to hold televised debates in our still young democracy, sadly the debate made the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Besides being one of the best players in golf’s history, Jack Nicklaus is recognized around the world for his signature golf courses. Now on his latest venture, he’s exploring a different side of the sport he loves, the Jack Nicklaus Golf Academies, opening one at Riviera Nayarit in June 2012.

Following the path opened up by John Huston and his Night of the Iguana, a new film is set to start filming in Puerto Vallarta world-famous locations. A Mexican-American production, the teen comedy "I Brake For Gringos" will be the next one of a long list of Hollywood movies filmed in our beautiful town.
